WaveMaker Grants Cycle 4 will provide cash awards up to $6,000 each totaling $60,000 to fourteen visual artists, curators, creative/arts writers, cultural organizers, collectives, collaboratives, partnerships, and artist-run spaces currently residing in Miami-Dade County.
WaveMaker Grants is part of the Andy Warhol Foundation of Visual Arts Regional Regranting Program, and was the first in the southeast founded under the former Cannonball non-profit. Since 2015, WaveMaker has awarded more than forty grants to creatives across Miami-Dade County through a juried process supporting projects that are non-commercial, non-institutional, stimulate critical thinking and dialogue, and expose audiences to innovative artistic practices typically under- recognized by traditional venues.
Grantees for the fourth cycle of WaveMaker Grants were selected by an independent juror panel of distinguished arts professionals, including Karl Anderson, R&D program coordinator at SPACES, Cleveland; Claire Breukel, director and curator of Y.ES, Contemporary Art El Salvador and curator of the Unscripted art program for the city of Bal Harbour; Maria Elena Ortiz, associate curator at the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM); and Charlie Tatum, editorial and communications manager at Pelican Bomb, New Orleans.
